Rowan Radio Named Finalist In National Station of the Year Competition

Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM was named one of three national finalists for Station of the Year in College Media Association’s Pinnacle Awards competition on Friday.

WGLS-FM joins campus radio stations from Marshall University and West Virginia University as the competition’s other finalists for top four-year college radio station. Rowan Radio was last named a finalist for the same award in 2013.

Punk Rock is Thriving… At least in New Jersey

The region’s most dedicated punk rockers fled to Trenton over the weekend for the annual Punk Rock Flea Market. The event was made up of hundreds of extremely talented and unique vendors. From candle-making and hair styling to photography and painting, all elements of our local art scene were celebrated.

Local Band Takes Stage With Big Names

Five of South Jersey’s most passionate musicians have recently come together to form what they like to call Chasing Utopia. Coming together only less than a year ago, members RJay Conley, Zack Routon, Alec Wright, Julian Willingham, and Marcus Barnard say they are already achieving more than they ever thought possible.

Last Friday, October 30th, the guys took the stage with Victory Records’ artist, The Bunny The Bear. Fans energetically enjoyed the set as Chasing Utopia shared words of hope. The Bunny The Bear bassist was even spotted moshing in the crowd.

Saturday Night at the Oldies host Matt Kazin with Mike Love of The Beach Boys

Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM received two first place awards in the Philadelphia Press Association annual awards competition on Monday.

Matt Kazin (’13) tied for first place in the Radio Feature category for his interview with legendary musician Johnny Mathis. The pair covered the long and winding career of Mathis in an interview that aired last August on Saturday Night at the Oldies.
