Heroin High Wins First Place In CBI Awards Competition
“Heroin High,” a documentary about drug culture in South Jersey high schools, won first place in the Best Documentary category at the College Broadcasters Incorporated’s National Student Production Awards ceremony in San Antonio on Saturday.
Produced by Joe Mineo, Allie Volpe, and Robert Zettlemoyer, the documentary beat out finalist entries from the Savannah College of Art & Design, Columbia College, and The American University in Cairo.
WGLS-FM Honored As Radio Station Of The Year Nominee
Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM received a national finalist nomination for Radio Station of the Year from College Media Association in the organization’s 2013 Pinnacle Awards competition.
The nominated entry spotlighted WGLS-FM’s reporting and community work at Harrison Township Day in Mullica Hill, NJ last May; a feature on a woman’s journey from Tokyo to Delaware to see entertainer Ted Neeley; and Heroin High, a documentary focusing on the drug culture in South Jersey high schools.

Allie Volpe Named Finalist In CBI Best DJ Competition
Allie Volpe, former host of “The Indie Fix,” was named one of four national finalists in the Best DJ competition by College Broadcasters Incorporated on Wednesday.
Volpe, formerly WGLS-FM Operations Manager and a Rowan University graduate last May, was recognized in the 2013 CBI Student Production Awards for her work on “The Indie Fix.”
