Rowan Radio Alum Wins BEA Award Of Excellence

Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM earned an Award of Excellence in the Broadcast Education Association’s annual Festival Media of Arts competition on Wednesday.

Damara Peraino received an Award of Excellence in BEA’s Best On-Air Personality category. The winning entry featured Peraino’s work on Satin Nights. During her junior and senior year at Rowan Radio, she hosted the two-hour show that concentrated on love songs while providing relationship advice and stories to listeners.

The Hermes Awards recognized five Rowan Radio programs on Tuesday in the organization’s annual competition.

Behind the Closed Door: Sexual Assault on College Campuses received a Platinum Award for Best Audio Program. The documentary covered the trend of sexual assaults on college campuses and what universities were doing to make their environment safer.

Hogan, Donovan To Be Inducted Into The WGLS-FM Hall Of Fame

Rowan Radio General Manager Emeritus Frank J. Hogan and Rowan University professor Michael Donovan will be inducted into the WGLS-FM Hall of Fame at Rowan Radio’s annual banquet on Thursday, April 12 at Scotland Run Golf Club in Williamstown, New Jersey.

Hogan served as WGLS-FM General Manager from 1991 to 2013. Under his leadership, WGLS-FM reached unprecedented heights on and off-the-air including winning College Radio Station of the Year; and receiving over 200 regional and national awards for excellence in programming.
