Kevin Cieri (’81) and Ashley (Smith) Huggins (’08) will become the newest members of the WGLS-FM Hall of Fame as a part of Rowan University’s Homecoming festivities in October.
Cieri and Huggins will be honored at Rowan Radio’s Alumni Mixer and Hall of Fame Celebration at Friday, October 11 at Rowan University’s Alumni Engagement Center.
Cieri, who graduated from then-Glassboro State College, served as an on-air personality, news reporter, and sports broadcaster at WGLS-FM for four years. During his time at the station, Cieri worked on several special station events including Project Santa and Glassboro State College’s Sunshine Jam.
Following his time in Glassboro, Cieri’s career in communication and government included work at CBS as a production coordinator; Department of the Army, and the Department of Veteran Affairs. He continues to have ties to the communication industry and service to the public. Currently, Cieri serves as chairman of the Long Branch Cable TV Commission.
After transferring to Rowan University in January 2006, Huggins joined Rowan Radio. She quickly established herself as an on-air personality by hosting numerous shows including the Early Bird Special and Rowan Radio Rock. Heading into her senior year, Huggins joined the station’s Executive Staff as the station’s Rock Director.
She co-produced an award-winning documentary, Depression: Sad But True, that was recognized in national competitions including by Broadcast Education Association and the Communicator Awards. Also, Huggins was a part of the award-winning Rowan Report, which was honored by the Society of Professional Journalists in 2008.
After graduation in May 2008, Huggins continued her radio career by working in sales planning at Dial Global (now Westwood One). Currently, she is a sales planning manager at ESPN Radio.
Cieri and Huggins become the 45th and 46th members of the WGLS-FM Hall of Fame.
Established in 2005, the WGLS-FM Hall of Fame recognizes Glassboro State/Rowan University alumni and individuals that contributed to the station’s success.
