WGLS-FM Documentary On Gaming Violence Wins First Place In Regional Competition

8-Bit to HD: The Evolution of Video Games & Their Effects on Society, received first place in the Radio Feature category of the 69th annual Garden State Journalists Association awards competition.

Produced by Laurie Senior, the 30-minute documentary explored the potentially harmful impact of video games on society. The program examined the history of gaming back to the 1970s and how much of its history can be attributed to violent behavior from gamers.

Also, Senior spoke with gaming enthusiasts and industry professionals, who offered their thoughts on the topic.

Senior, a resident of Magnolia, NJ, produced the documentary last fall as a part of a radio production course within the College of Communication and Creative Arts.

The Garden State Journalists Association recognizes the best in radio, print journalism, photography, and television. Winners will be honored on May 25 at the organization’s annual awards dinner at The Chart House in Weehawken, NJ.
