Rowan Football Visits Johns Hopkins In NCAA Tournament On WGLS-FM

Rowan University Football faces Johns Hopkins University in the opening round of the NCAA tournament this Saturday at noon on Rowan Radio.

The first-ever meeting between the two schools finds Rowan making the trek to Baltimore to take on Johns Hopkins – the nation’s seventh-ranked team, according to D3Football.com.

Rowan University heads into the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive season under Profs head coach Jay Accorsi. Rowan completed a 7-3 regular season that included the Profs winning a share of the New Jersey Athletic Conference crown.

The Profs are led by junior running back Withler Marcelin, who continues to re-write the Rowan record book. Marcelin received NJAC Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 217 yards and two touchdowns in a title-clinching 14-6 win over TCNJ last Friday night.

Saturday’s game marks Rowan’s 16th appearance in the NCAA tournament. In its previous postseason appearances, the Profs compiled a 12-3 record in first round games.

Meanwhile, Johns Hopkins, Centennial Conference champions, enters the NCAA tournament for the fourth straight season on a roll after completing an undefeated 10-0 regular season.

The Blue Jays are led by senior quarterback Braden Anderson, who accounted for 29 touchdowns this season. Anderson tossed 20 touchdown passes while rushing for a team-high nine scores.

The winner of Saturday’s Rowan/JHU meeting squares off against the winner of Ithaca/Hobart next Saturday at noon.

Coverage begins on Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM and wgls.rowan.edu beginning at 11 a.m. with the Rowan University Football Coaches Show as Jay Accorsi and WGLS-FM Sports Director Jonathan Kohut preview Profs/Blue Jays.

Starting at 11:30, Profs Pregame hits the air from Homewood Field in Baltimore, Maryland.

Then, at noon join Derek Jones and Jonathan Kohut for the call of Rowan Football versus Johns Hopkins University in the NCAA Division III Football Championship Tournament.
