Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM received a pair of finalist nominations in two national student competitions this week.

Online Dating: There’s an App for That?, a documentary analyzing the burgeoning popularity of online dating, earned finalist recognition in the Best Documentary category from College Broadcasters Incorporated.

Elsewhere, College Media Association’s Pinnacle Awards bestowed honors on the program as well with a finalist nod for Best Podcast.

Produced by Ellen Hardy and Alyssa Sansone, the documentary was created in conjunction with the Radio Production course of WGLS-FM Station Manager Derek Jones.

Online Dating also grabbed kudos from The Communicator Awards, Hermes Awards, Philadelphia Press Association, and Garden State Journalists Association earlier this year.

Winners for the CBI National Student Production Awards will be announced at the organization’s annual National Student Electronic Media Convention, which begins on October 23 in Seattle.

Meanwhile, the Pinnacle Awards reveals winners on Friday, October 31 at the CMA’s National College Media Convention in Philadelphia.

Celebrating 50 years of broadcasting, Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM has won 244 regional and national awards since 1993.
