Two Rowan Radio programs received first place in the annual Philadelphia Press Association competition on Tuesday.

“Online Dating: There’s an App for That?” garnered first-place honors in the competition’s Radio Enterprise Reporting category.

Produced by Ellen Hardy and Alyssa Sansone, the documentary about online dating’s popularity also previously received award nods from the Communicator Awards, Garden State Journalists Association, and the Hermes Awards.

Elsewhere, A Community Affair, hosted by WGLS-FM Public Affairs Director Jackson Baird, won first place for Radio Feature.

Baird’s interview previewed last fall’s New Jersey Senate race between candidates Cory Booker and Steve Lonegan.

The award-winning program also featured an interview with long-time political analyst Harry Hurley.

The Broadcast Education Association previously recognized the same program last February in the organization’s Festival of Media Arts competition.

The Philadelphia Press Association recognizes achievement in local print, radio, and television. Winners will be honored at an awards dinner on June 8 in Haddon Heights, New Jersey.

Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM, in its 50th year of broadcasting, has won 241 regional and national awards.
