Two WGLS-FM programs earned awards in the annual Garden State Journalists Association awards competition on Tuesday.

“Online Dating: There’s an App for That?” a documentary about the rise of online dating, received second place in the organization’s Radio Feature category.

Created by Ellen Hardy and Alyssa Sansone, the documentary takes a look at the world of online dating and how an underground movement became a booming multi-million dollar industry.

The program was produced in conjunction with the Radio Production course of WGLS-FM Interim Station Manager Derek Jones.

“Studio 89.7,” hosted by Rowan University adjunct instructor and Philadelphia broadcast veteran Paul Perrello, took home second place in the Talk Radio category.

Perrello spoke with Philadelphia television news legend Larry Kane about his time covering The Beatles in the award-winning entry.
