Allie Volpe Named Finalist In CBI Best DJ Competition

Allie3Allie Volpe, former host of “The Indie Fix,” was named one of four national finalists in the Best DJ competition by College Broadcasters Incorporated on Wednesday.

Volpe, formerly WGLS-FM Operations Manager and a Rowan University graduate last May, was recognized in the 2013 CBI Student Production Awards for her work on “The Indie Fix.”

Previously honored by The Communicator Awards and Broadcast Education Association, “The Indie Fix” showcased independent rock music with Volpe serving as the show’s host.

The Washington Township native joins finalists in the Best DJ category from Columbia College Chicago, University of Southern Indiana, and Goshen College.

Winners of the CBI Student Production Awards will be announced on Saturday, November 2 at the organization’s annual convention in San Antonio, Texas.

A complete list of finalists for the entire competition will be available by September 6.

Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM has won 228 national and regional awards since 1993.
