On Monday, November 5, Leo Kirschner will join our staff as interim assistant station manager. Many of you know Leo as host of The Rock & Roll Time Machine. For those that don’t, Leo received his B.A. in Communications (R/T/F) with a minor in Music from Rowan University in 1994. While at WGLS, Leo learned to wear many hats. Starting out as a news announcer, then co-host of The Early Bird Special, Leo became a Music Director and was instrumental in helping to establish new station programming including the on-air accredited course The Growth and Development of Jazz, co-hosting Jazz Stacks with former Rowan President Dr. Herman James, as well as creating the original Broadway and movie music show Soundtraxx. Since then, Leo has continued over the past 18 years in his broadcasting career. He has worked as an Air Personality (Cat Country 107.3), Production Assistant (KYW News Radio), TV Audio & Tape Engineer (Comcast CN8), and Production/Creative Service Director for a variety of South Jersey radio stations, as well as being news producer for Atlantic City’s NBC affiliate (WMGM-TV) and a local radio & tv voiceover talent. And he is a member of the WGLS-FM Hall of Fame.
On Monday, November 12, 2012, Derek Jones, another member of the WGLS-FM Hall of Fame and long-time assistant manager, will assume the position of interim station manager.
Please join me in congratulating Derek and welcoming Leo “home” to WGLS-FM!
