Rowan Radio received a finalist nod in the first-ever Pinnacle College Broadcast & Web Tech Awards, organized by College Media Association.

A 30-second public service announcement called “Freedom of Speech Means…” was named a finalist in the Best Radio Promo/PSA/Station ID category.

Produced by WGLS-FM Production Director Joe Mineo and Operations Manager Allie Volpe, the PSA summarized the duo’s unique spin on the First Amendment. A collaboration of voices backed originally scored music from Volpe, who played guitar for the piece.

This marks the second honor for the award-winning production. It earned second place in the 2012 Freedom of Speech PSA competition in July.

The Pinnacle College Broadcast & Web Tech Awards is a new national contest that recognizes student-produced radio, television, and online media.

WGLS-FM has won 216 national and regional awards since 1993.
