Former Rowan Radio Sports Director Takes Top Delaware Broadcasting Honor

April 20, 2012

Wilmington, DE – The Wilmington Blue Rocks proudly announce that lead play-by-play announcer John Sadak has taken the Delaware Press Association’s top broadcasting honor for a third straight year. His call of a come-from-behind Blue Rocks win garnered the “Best Presentation” award among all First State announcers.
The “Best Presentation” category includes all news/sports anchors, reporters or play-by-play announcers and evaluates the entrants on style of delivery, diction, authoritative presence and credibility. It marks the DPA’s highest honor for a news or sports announcer in Delaware.

The winning radio broadcast submission, “Bolting It Down”, consisted of the final frame on May 20, 2011 when the Blue Rocks (Kansas City Royals) met the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Texas Rangers) in a meeting of the Carolina League’s then-first-place teams in the Northern Division and Southern Division respectively. The game aired on the radio home for the Blue Rocks, Rowan Radio, 89.7 WGLS-FM.

Sadak’s work has been recognized multiple times over the years, including “Best Presentation” radio recognition from the DPA in each of the last six years and the last two television honors. In January, he was anointed the Delaware Sportscaster of the Year for the second time in three years by the National Sportscasters & Sportswriters Association. The Rowan University alumnus has also been spotlighted by the Philadelphia Press Association, New Jersey Associated Press Broadcasters Association, Communicator Awards, Society of Professional Journalists, National Federation of Press Women, the WGLS-FM Hall of Fame, and College Broadcasters Incorporated, among other entities.

Congratulates John, you make us proud!
